While attending the New Fantasyland Media Event in December 2012, we had the delightful opportunity to discover Splitsville Luxury Lanes at Downtown Disney. Here is a snapshot of Splitsville in pictures….
Now the facts thanks to WDW News ~
Splitsville Luxury Lanes is an upscale, retro-style bowling destination and the Downtown Disney location is the largest in the bowling brand’s fleet. The only two-level location with 30 lanes and more than 50,000 square feet of entertainment space making it twice the size of any other Splitsville. It features billiards, live entertainment, a balcony bar with sweeping views and upscale dining options that cater to the entire family. This is not your father’s bowling alley. Splitsville is anchored by bowling – the largest participation sport in America – but with a modern take that brings together entertainment and upscale food in a non-traditional bowling setting. We loved the décor as a blend of hip and nostalgic elements with the bowling lanes separated into clusters that create unexpected sight lines for guests. There are also lane concierges available nightly to help maximize the bowling experience for guests. The expansion to Downtown Disney comes amid a growth era for the sport of bowling, which is the most popular participation sport in America with nearly 70 million people participating in the sport each year, according to the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America. More than 60 percent of bowlers in the United States are under age 34 and nearly half are women.
The Splitsville menu is distinctly different than your typical bowling alley fare. Guided by award-winning chef Tim Cushman, the menu features a variety of higher-end offerings such as grilled Mahi Mahi with “Voodoo” shrimp, filet sliders and grilled chicken parmesan, plus a kids menu, in addition to traditional bowling alley food items. There are even two sushi bars where guests can get fresh-rolled sushi.
Prices and length of play time vary based on time of day and party size, and include the cost of shoe rentals. Prior to 4 p.m., the rate is $15 per person. After 4 p.m., the rate is $20 per person. Guests visiting after 10:30 p.m. between Monday and Thursday can take a late-night spin for a special rate of $15 per person. Guests who take advantage of Priority Bowling receive access to the next available lane upon check-in for $80 per person for one hour prior to 5 p.m. and $125 per person for one hour of bowling after 5 p.m. The wait time will vary based on volume. Maximum of 2 lanes per group. Maximum of 8 bowlers per lane. Restrictions may apply for the duration of Priority Bowling.
Gold Family Verdict
We loved it! With three children ages elementary to high school, finding an activity we can all do together and truly enjoy is a huge challenge. Leave it to Disney to give us a fantastic option for our time spent in Downtown Disney. We work hard to make sure we recognize the kids have varying interests, giving each time to do what they like and not rushing anyone onto the next attraction or park. With each trip the children have all grown to love certain attractions, restaurants, or special locations that are so much fun. All five of us had a blast and when the time comes to visit again, I am certain Splistville will be on our must do list.
