Have you ordered your holiday photo cards and gifts yet? Thanks to Global Influence and Shutterfly, I’ve had the chance to check out this year’s card and gift collection and I’ve got some favorites to share. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, now is the perfect time to get these ordered and off your holiday to do list. As I’ve shared in the past, Thanksgiving weekend is when we spend family time addressing, stamping, and adding personal notes to our holiday photo cards. Its a tradition I wouldn’t trade for the world and as long as I have my cards in time we are good to go. And when it comes to photo gifts, I find the older my children get, the more I cherish holiday memories that include their photos. With so many miles between family and friends, I’m drawn to creating photo gifts for relatives we don’t see as much as we’d like and they are always a big hit. Check out my picks for this year’s holiday photo cards and gifts.
Personalized Ornaments and Decor
Every year we get a new ornament for our kids to keep in their own personal collection. Think ornament series or special sparkly ornaments from Grandma with their name and year etched on the bottom. What I love about these personalized ornaments is by including a picture, they tell the story of your child’s life. Adding a very personal touch to this wreath is simply gorgeous and can be completely transformed every year. When it comes to family, these ornament photo gifts are simply priceless.
Nothing like a holiday puzzle to keep your family occupied over the holiday weekend. A personalized puzzle is a wonderful photo gift because its immediately intriguing (show me a child who doesn’t love to see pictures of themselves) and once completed, its instant decor.
Playing Card Stocking Stuffers
Because we love to play games, personalized playing cards could not be a better stocking stuffer for our kids. Makes it easy to find your “own” deck of cards and even more special to have them ready to play anytime of year. When it comes to easy, useful, and fun gift ideas for your kids friends, this one is a slam dunk!
Now when it comes to photo cards, here is where I have such a hard time deciding! I’ll admit, I’ve been purchasing Shutterfly cards for the last few years and they continue to amaze me with so many options. The 2013 collection doesn’t disappoint with new card designs that include something for everyone ~ check it out:
- 5×7 folded tri fold & back of card designs
- Classic: Traditional colors, iconic illustrations, aspirational sentiments, snowflakes, monogram
- Contemporary: trend forward colors, texture and layering, water color techniques, shine, glitter, Instagram pictures are perfect for this style
- Whimsy: humor and nostalgia meet, fun sentiments
- Merry and Bright: all about color and having fun
- Religious: metallic type treatments, incorporated story ideas
- Photo Basics: multiple colors, vertical type, family name highlights
Because I’m predictable, I’m always torn between a year in pictures or choosing one simple shot that captures the essence of our kids. Here’s what I’m trying to decide between this year….
A Year in Photos
Its been a crazy busy year for us all and I’m tempted to do a simple update for each of the kids along with my favorite picture of each from the past year. Not a report card of accomplishments because I’ve been there and done that and honestly don’t love those cards nearly as much as those which are simply the essence of who is in the picture. Instead, I’d like to include something fun about each of their adventures and give you a year in photos that makes you smile.
The simplicity of that one shot that shows you the depths of my love for my family and the keys to my heart? That is joy. In this case, the simplicity of a single shot speaks for itself and I love this classic holiday photo card design for how uncluttered and clear the message of joy will be. And just in case I can’t decide between 2 shots I can also include a picture inside.
