September 11th

Every year since 2001, this day begins in a way that has never changed. Not one of the four years longer that we lived in Virginia and not one of the eight since we moved here to North Carolina.

The sky. Equal parts of incredibly crystal clear and a gorgeous brilliant blue.

Symbolic for all that a beautiful day promises us ~ joy, playfulness, freedom. As they are for all of us, my memories of September 11th, 2001 are like an automatic replay that lasts all day.  How the morning unfolded.  The piercing fear of a threat more evil than anyone could imagine.  The eery silence of not a single plane in the sky.

I will pray that those memories will remind me always to be fearless, to be selfless, to be brave, to be willing, to have faith, to have trust, and to hope boldly for a peaceful future.  I will pray that the memories of September 11th will never let me forget, not for myself or my family, not for my country or our world.

God Bless ~

Molly
