I love the start of the school year! Many of you know my long standing passion for color coding notebooks, folders, and pens for every subject, not to mention my shirts and shoes too! Looking back now, I absolutely loved the order of a well run classroom and likely would have loved being a teacher. Its an amazing career full of bright and talented leaders who are underpaid and beyond committed to investing in your child's mind and helping them learn in ways you can't even dream of. Do you remember your favorite teacher? I had many, but the one that made an investment in me that I'll never forget was Miss Liberty, 4th grade. She chose me to join her in a summer tutoring program she hosted at our school helping underserved children stay current on their literacy skills. Her's was the class where we wrote our first books, publishing them to be shelved in the library available for all to read from the crazy club footed bathtub the librarians had placed front and center for all to enjoy. I adored her and everything she shared from her time to her belief in me, I knew she was in my corner. She was a modern day Mr. Ratburn from the popular PBS show Arthur and I'll never forget how empowered I felt that I could learn and lead all in one. Fast forward to 2010 and today, I'm not a teacher in the classroom but an expert in my specialty and I love sharing new ideas with you to help you find your way to a generally organized and well loved life as a busy Mother. Check out our Back to School Checklist and our DIY GO MOM! Planner to get you pointed in the right direction this year. Remember, it all starts with you...you can't expect your children to be naturally organized...its a freak of nature I happen to be blessed to enjoy. But for most of us, its a daily grind to figure out which way is up so find your center and then enjoy the year!

Not one to venture into product reviews much less food related, I have to tell you I'm jamming on being invited to be an Eggo AM Mama for this fun mid-summer promotion created by The Motherhood and Eggo! The reason I accepted this brand ambassador invitation is simple...the product involved is focused on convenience and when it comes to family time management and home organization, the more we can do to streamline and make our busy days convenient, the better they will run. That, and the fact that we've always been Eggo fans and a new product with fruit and granola is a slam dunk for my sleepy tribe. We tried them, kids loved them cooked in the oven versus the microwave, simply because the taste of baked granola, cinnamon, and fruit is undeniably delicious. So guess what...I'm having a giveaway so you can try them too! 5 winners will be selected from our community to receive a set of Eggo Real Fruit Pizzas. Here's how: - Leave a comment (and a valid e-mail address) here and share your best tips for making mornings more convenient.
- 5 (five) winners will be picked randomly from the comments.
- Contest is open to all U.S. residents (no purchase necessary, void where prohibited) 18 years or older.
- Winner has 24 hours to get back to me, otherwise another winner will be drawn.
- Contest ends Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 10pm CST.
Need some ideas to get you started? Check out The Motherhood Eggo Mornings Circle where you'll find me and other Eggo AM Mamas along with all of you sharing our scoop about how we make mornings run more smoothly. The Motherhood will also be creating Eggo's Best Tips for Enjoyable, Organized Morning by choosing the best user-generated tips submitted. One of those lucky submissions will be selected for a GRAND PRIZE including samples of Eggo Real Fruit Pizzas and a set of Kellogg's mugs...my kids would totally fight over those! Winners will be selected using www.Random.org. Give it shot! You'll find all sorts of great suggestions to get your mind moving towards back to school schedules and having a pocket full of solutions to keep your family on track and off to great start. Good luck! Disclosure: I am compensated by TheMotherhood for my participation as an Eggo AM Mama Brand Ambassador. However, we are an Eggo friendly crew in my home and I jumped at the chance to try this product and more importantly, make that connection for you about how when chosen wisely, convenience foods can make a world of difference in giving your entire family a wonderful morning. My opinions are entirely my own and by all accounts, this is a great new entry into the frozen breakfast foods market. Enjoy
