How to Organize a Closet

This is my zen ~ can you blame me?  I’m standing inside an ORG closet solution and clearly anyone can recognize that if you have a backdrop like this, being well organized is a natural result. But for most of us, its “Organizing your Closet 101″ because you might not have this set up today (although you might be moving towards it).

No matter what product solutions you have at your disposal, here are 3 tips to help you better organize your closet at the start of the New Year or anytime you decide to go in and tame the beast.

1. Think About Height: Think about where things are placed for the person who is going to use them. You want to make sure that if its a closet for you that you use vertical space for things you can reach and then access that space below for other people who might also be in that space.

2. Think About Drawers: Whether its a permanent solution with a slide out drawer or a temporary solution you can move anywhere, drawers can make a huge difference in how you layer the space and provide out of site storage for items you need.

3. Think About Versatility: Don’t just use the space in its most obvious design. If you live a bit unconventionally, go ahead and mix it up. If you have closed drawers like this, they might the perfect for personal records and memorabilia. It doesn’t have to be used in an obvious way.

You live in the house that you have and your goal is to make it work as best you can. So look at your closet with an eagle eye and a fresh perspective. It’s just waiting for you to organize it well. Tell me ~ do you use your closet storage for more than just clothes?

Disclosure: I filmed this video while on site at the home of Anissa Mayhew during The Organized Give. It is not part of my compensated series. Its such wonderful organized eye candy I simply could not help myself but to film something for you there!
