Today we are talking about family favorite recipes for the grill. Thanks to the Motherhood and Costco, I am part of a project that aims to highlight family favorite recipes that you can make with pork. All month long different cuts of pork have been featured and for my week, it was pork tenderloin. When I learned about the project, it was easy to say yes because we have a wonderful recipe for a pork rub that we’ve been making for years. Even better, its insanely simple with just 4 ingredients listed here:
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Pepper
2 tbs Sugar (you can add more if you like)
1/4 tsp Coarse Garlic
We’ve found its the sugar that is the secret ingredient, adding just the right amount of sweetness to temper the other ingredients into flavors that are delicious.
When our boys were tiny, before we even thought about our daughter, we went to the beach with a group of other couples. All of us with young children, to make things easy every couple took one night in the kitchen cooking for the crew giving us all most nights off so we could handle our families and enjoy our time. One couple made this very simple rub for Butterfly cut pork chops served with unbelievable corn on the cob, fresh salad, and a wonderful dessert. It was fantastic, everyone loved it, and there wasn’t a piece of meat left in the house.
With a husband who loves to grill and me who is always looking to simplify, this recipe was destined to become a Gold Family signature dish. Its a breeze when you are entertaining and a sure thing when you are short on time. At some point all the kids had a stage when they thought we were eating chicken, and you can bank on the fact that we didn’t even address that correction. And over time, I realized the secret to finding family favorites has a simple 3 step recipe of its own:
1. Everyone likes it.
2. I choose make it often because its super easy.
3. I loves it because my husband loves to grill ~ translation I get a night off cooking!
I hope you will give this Gold Family Favorite a try and tell me what you think ~ we’ve been enjoying this recipe for almost 14 years and I’ve never had a night when someone didn’t say delicious. Check out Costco’s “In The Warehouse” for flavorful recipes and tips for preparing each week’s featured cut of pork. Do you have a family favorite recipe for the grill?
