Get Organized in December {Your Planner}

Get Organized

December means holidays but for a busy Mom, its always time to plan ahead and today we are talking about How to Get Organized in December for the New Year.  This is the first in a 4 part series and today, its as simple as this ~ your planner. Before you buy one, you need to know how to choose the right planner for you so you will end up with a tool that truly works for you.  Once discovered, I have three tips about the most important part of that planner ~ the calendar.

Monthly View Matters

At the start of very week, sit down with all your calendars from the kids school, work and personal and fill out 12 months of dates that you know are already committed in one way or another. That’s your road map right there, telling you when you have time for vacation, time for extra days, time to make sure you don’t lose any vacation days which really is a sin in my book.

Weekly or Daily View Details

This is where the additional details go so it doesn’t necessarily need to be filled out for the entire 12 months.  However, you can certainly work ahead and complete these for the next 4 to 8 weeks as a great way to get started.

Color Code to Get Organized

You had to know! I keep my markers close by with every single color you can imagine. When you color code both your monthly and weekly planner, it will keep you on track and give you a mental clue just even when you look at it giving you an association about what’s happening when and who it includes.

If you want to get a jump start on the New Year, now you know where to start ~ your planner.  I look forward to seeing you next time and tell me…

      Beth a calendar is a great start ~ good luck!

    Planner? What’s that?! I use notebooks and a calendar, but need something centralized.

    • admin December 4, 2012, 11:05 am

      Kelly its easy to decentralize without realizing it ~ sounds like list making takes you elsewhere so if you work on that aspect you might find yourself in one place more often. Thanks for commenting!

    Planners and I have quite the history together, and a rather love-hate relationship!!! Before I had children I was incredibly organized, on time to any and all physical destinations,

    Planners and I have quite the history together, and a rather love-hate relationship!!! Before I had children I was incredibly organized, from financial responsibilities like; paying for reaccuring pmts and utilities, obligations on time to any and all physical destinations,

      I apologize for the multiple posts, twice now I had three times the amount of the posts above and some how hit the wrong button by accident….. Resulting in posting 1/4 of my entry, and poof my very long, very time consuming entry disappears…. So I’ve decided not to write the entire post over for a third time. The jist of of it is this; I use several different planners and calendar systems, ranging from manual hand written planner to a digital planner, to a giant dry erase calendar template stuck to my fridge!! I’m in search of a planner that can include most, if not all of the simple needs for myself….. Rather than only one feature per each calendar!! I hate my millions of letters I write when one event gets added to 6 or 7 different calendars!!!
      Anyways, thank you for your time, your advice, and your amazing dedications to Mothers everywhere! You are a true inspiration!! Plz, excuse the two post above this, ; ) I don’t know how to erase the. Messed up ones! Whoops! ; )

    Ugghhh…I need a calendar like yesterday. I use my phone, but I can’t find an app that has me hooked as of yet. When it comes to scheduling my family, I’m just a pen to the paper kind of girl I guess……I need to be able to have it all laid out in front of me.

    I would love to win this planner. Leaving everything to memory is not working that great anymore. 🙂
