Disney Sports Team Mom Tips ~ Family Fun After the Game

If you are a busy Team Mom trying to decide which tournament will be the one that can offer the most not only for your players but for the families as well, all I can say is check out your options at ESPN Wide World of Sports.  When you attend a Disney Sports Tournament either hosted by Disney or one of the many organizations who partner year round, you have an awesome opportunity to visit Disney Parks as well!  Lets face it.  The life of an amateur athlete who travels is full of hard work and sacrifice and for their families its the same.  Weekend after weekend spent court or field side, nights spent in countless hotels in various towns you never really get to see.   So it just might be that choosing a tournament at ESPN Wide World of Sports this year might be your family’s best shot at a true family vacation. Check out just how helpful Disney Sports can be…

The Disney Concierge service at ESPN Wide World of Sports works closely with tournament organizers, team Moms, and coaches to create numerous opportunities for players and families to have plenty of fun.  Depending on the event, you’ll find incredible opening receptions in the park giving you a private and so unique special events. Just imagine Animal Kingdom’s Expedition Everest in the dark!  I’m not even brave enough to go on it during the day much last at night but oh how my kids have enjoyed the thrill of this ride made available only by attending a special after hours event in association with a tournament or meeting.  It takes the word magical to an entirely new level.

One Walt Disney World location often suggested for team events is Downtown Disney and Disney Quest.  Because these are not ticketed destinations like the parks, they give tournament attendees a variety of options for family fun.  And I can’t say enough about how much we’ve enjoyed Splitsville Luxury Lanes!  A little friendly competition between parents and kids never hurt anyone and is sure to bring plenty of laughter and great memories for all.

Another fantastic option is easily found in the Disney Water Parks.  After spending so much time on the field or court, everyone is ready to for a change of pace and the water parks offer a wonderful chance for everyone to relax and have fun.

And depending on what season your tournament is occurring, you could have access to some of the most memorable special events Disney Parks hosts all year long. I’ve been blessed to visit on Halloween day itself, trick or treating with our kids and the characters in costume during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and its about as awesome as any Halloween could be.  From the amazing costumes worn by guests and cast members alike to the special Halloween themed parade featuring all of Disney’s best villains, its an awesome time of year for true family fun.

everyone wants to get out and play and Disney Sports has your back. By working closely with tournament organizers and team Moms, those options for ticket packages exist and are specialized for your unique tournament needs.  This kind of personalization is key to me when I’m evaluating tournaments to find ones that will meet the needs for the entire family.  And remember, Disney Sports hosts a number of open tournaments open to any team that would like to enter.  That means you don’t have to be a member of AAU, USSSA, Varsity Cheer, or many of the other organizations that may partner or host events of their own.  Disney Sports makes sure that there are numerous events for athletes at all levels, making that sports experience a reality for them all. So if your goal is to find tournament opportunities that will challenge your athletes while making memories of a lifetime for everyone involved, Disney Sports is worth a closer look.  Tell me…

What kinds of recreation activities do you look for when choosing a tournament for your team to attend?

This post is part of a series designed to show Team Moms what its like to participate in a tournament hosted by or held at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Disclosure: Special thanks to Disney Sports for inviting me to attend the Disney Sports Festival Media Event. I was not asked to post at anytime and my pixie dusted observations about the event are entirely my own. Clearly, I am a huge fan and have been since my Walt Disney World College Program Days. To see the magic of Disney encompass the passion of youth sports is a wonderful thing.
