One of my favorite areas in Disney New Fantasyland has to be Storybook Circus. Incredibly creative and no detail left undone, it is all things expansive, colorful, and designed for guests to both enjoy and relax. Anchored by the world famous Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride, it also includes The Barnstormer, Pete’s Silly Side Show, Fantasyland Station, and Casey Junior Splash ‘N’ Soak Station. In December 2012 I was blessed to attend the Disney New Fantasyland Grand Opening Media Event Walt Disney World in the Magic Kingdom. Check it out!

One of the most popular rides in Disney New Fantasyland has got to be the completely re-imagined Double Dumbo in Storybook Circus. Just imagine ~ TWO Dumbos flying in opposing circles at the same time! Before you ride, all guests receive a pager that “virtually” holds your place in line. Instead of spending time just waiting in line, you enter the big tent to find an air-conditioned playground complete with slides, climbing net, and even a toddler section.

Created with Kids of all ages in mind, kids can be part of the circus while their parents relax and wait for your turn in line. This air-conditioned traditional play time respite is a gift without a price tag to parents navigating the parks with younger kids.

Our youngest child is in older elementary school. Of all the incredible magic this night held for us, riding Dumbo no fewer than 5 times had to be the most precious of all. It is incredibly beautiful at night with so many glorious colorful lights and add in the part where we had the park to ourselves and this meant hardly anyone else riding the rides, it gave us both the gift of cherished memories that will last a life time. Riding, jumping off, running through the cue, and riding again, and truth be told, I wanted to ride as often as she did.

The other surprise for the night was Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station. What I didn’t know it that evening is the area in which our reception was situated is actually a delightful circus-themed water play zone offering the perfect spot to cool off and relax, two of the most important considerations when keeping the littlest guest and their parents content. On the 2nd day of our media event, we had early access to this area and again, it was pure genius to see how much space has been dedicated to providing such a respite from the excitement. Consistent with the circus theme, along with Casey Jr., water is sprayed from animal figures like camels, monkeys, and elephants too!  Long before our youngest was even a thought, we took our now teens to Walt Disney World in late June as part of an extended family trip.  To say that it was hot is an understatement and I can’t tell you how much we would have loved this!

Making one of the most iconic rides that symbolizes the magic of Walt Disney World that much easier for everyone to enjoy is genius! One of the key insights the cast members have shared with the press is how Disney Imagineers were hoping to transform the guest experience change so that your time in Fantasyland would seem to truly slow down, making your visit to the park to be truly interactive for your entire family. The expansion of this beloved area clearly gives you more than enough time to enjoy it all. I have to agree that taking one of the most popular rides of all time and offering two Dumbos makes it easy to wait in that line! Check out what Disney Imagineer Chief Create Executive Bruce Vaughn had to say about Double Dumbo, Storybook Circus, and new in 2014 the Princess Hall and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

The Princess Hall is such a smart move, again giving parents a cool place to take a break with the promise of meeting the princess of your dreams without having to hope you make it through the greeting line. And who wouldn’t love another roller coaster?

When you have kids of all ages in your family, just like mine, its these kinds of full family ride solutions that make it easy to spend more of our time together as we visit the parks, touching us all with the magic that is truly New Fantasyland. Tell me…
