I have always wanted to experience Christmas at Walt Disney World. While I’m all for tradition and can’t imagine being anywhere but home on December 25th, I love the all the sparkle the holidays bring and we both know the Magic Kingdom is one place that must be simply magical all season long. For the happiest place on earth, the holiday season has officially begun and there are countless special events at Walt Disney World you simply won’t want to miss.
In December 2012, I had the distinct honor of attending the New Fantasyland grand opening and it occurred to me that this wouldn’t be like other Disney trip because while of course it was an amazing press opportunity, it occurred during the holiday season and that meant additional planning. Any trip to Walt Disney World requires an organized effort and our Organized Disney Pinterest Board is full of tips and insights to make things go well. However a trip in November and December is truly unique because your choices will be sprinkled with seasonal events you can only visit at this time of year. Here are four annual special events for the holidays that we could not wait to attend!
1. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party: By ticket only, its an evening event where the park beginning about 4 and by 7:00 is only for MVMCP ticket holders. The park is transformed into a magical winter wonderland with a holiday themed parade, fireworks, and Wishes Light Show. There is an amazing transformation that involves snow, seeing all the characters in holiday attire, and it even includes hot cocoa!
2. Epcot Candlelight Procession: This happens in the Americas Gardens and is hosted by a celebrity who is backed up by an orchestra and choir while they recite the Christmas Story by Candlelight Procession in the spirit of holidays around the world. My family loves Epcot and we were in awe of the vocalist and the performance overall.
3. Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights: The Osborne Family established themselves nationwide as the people for those off the hook crazy extreme Christmas lights displayed on their property in Arkansas and who better than Disney to invite them to share their talents buy setting them up at Hollywood Studios year after year. Just imagine millions of Christmas lights on the Streets of America at Hollywood Studios timed perfectly to a musical score. This event got thumbs up from us all for the coolest light show ever!
So right there ~ that’s 3 nights where we’ve got a seasonal special event to be work with so you can see why planning ahead really matters!
4. Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade: Held in the afternoon, I love seeing something holiday at Animal Kingdom giving you a fresh perspective. This parade is definitely safari and savannah minded in keeping with what Animal Kingdom is all about but still very seasonal for the holidays.
So these are four great seasonal holiday events to keep in mind when you travel to Walt Disney World. My family enjoyed them all as we took in the magic that surrounded us throughout the New Fantasyland Grand Opening. So tell me…
Have you ever visited Disney during the holidays? What was your favorite part?

Disclosure: special thanks to Disney Social Media for inviting me to attend the New Fantasyland Grand Opening Press Event. I was not asked to post at any time and my magical opinions full of pixie dust are entirely my own!
