Father’s Day is here.  Well, its technically three days away but that is basically here and for the last minute Lauras in the group, today’s post is for you.  Long ago my husband and I decided that both Mother’s and Father’s Day would be equal parts child driven and experience based. That means we didn’t want to focus on the tokens but rather the living.  This weekend will include no fewer than five baseball games, two tennis matches, a golf tournament, and time at the pool for anything in between.  The reality is, our celebration will happen away from home, field, court, course, or pool side, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Enter Disney Dream Makers. You may know that I recently attended the 2012 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. As a lifelong fan and Alumni of the Walt Disney World College Program, my love for Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust never ends and I remain in awe of the company that set my compass for all things excellence so many years ago.  Much to my delight, this years agenda including getting an inside peek at how Disney Dream Makers helps families celebrate literally anything you can imagine while visiting the happiest place on earth.

It goes without saying that giving your family a trip to Walt Disney World is gift enough.  But if you want to make sure you remember to actually say it loud and clear, an “I Love You!”, “Happy Anniversary” or simple “Happy Birthday!”, here are a few examples of the many special touches Disney Dream Makers has in store:

1.  A Personalized Welcome: My birthday was just a few days shy of my arrival to Walt Disney World.  When making our final arrangements, a reservations Cast Member asked me if we were celebrating anything special and I said it would be a wonderful blessing to my birthday week to spend time at Walt Disney World.  While this is NOT a Disney Dream Makers service, it shows you how simple it was to delight me upon arrival ~ my very own Birthday Button and I could not have been happier to add it to my lanyard all week long.  Everywhere I went, cast members greeted me with birthday wishes by name and when I qualified the actual date as having passed, I was met with a resounding demand that I elebrate all week!

2.  Love From Home: Nothing is more delightful than coming back to your hotel room and finding a lovely amenity to welcome you home.  A dear friend back home knew how much I was looking forward to this trip, shared with my best friend, her daughter, and my daughter as a once in a lifetime best friends getaway.  We are all neighbors and know one another well, sharing our lives and many special occasions over backyard parties and Sundays at the pool.  Her thoughtfulness to send birthday wishes with Minnie and a special strawberry for us all made me feel like she was right there with us.

3.  On Site Surprises: As it happens, there were a few attendees with birthdays that coincided with actual conference days.  My friend Amy has loved Disney her entire live and for her, celebrating her birthday on its actual day at Walt Disney World is a bucket list kind of thing.  During our conference lunch, I snuck out to ask the chef if he might assist us with a little surprise celebration. Much to my delight, he asked what kind of cake and frosting, her name, and literally not 10 minutes later, this appeared for all to enjoy!

These examples are just a TINY glimmer of the magic Disney Cast Members make happen every day.  A great place to start researching how you can give an extra special touch to your experience is Disney Floral & Gifts. Think glass slippers delivered to rooms or restaurants in magical baskets and more.   Think an entire hotel room decorated in character themes that make a party come alive.  Think arranging for tickets  to be waiting for your loved ones at check-in to special events like the Mickey’s Very Scary Halloween Party.  One of my favorite “Who knew?” services has to be the opportunity to have a family photo shoot, no not with your photo pass but with a professional photographer in a special location and all.  Think annual family beach picture but only better!

The Disney Dream Maker team motto says “If you can dream it, a Disney Dream Maker can do it!” I am always amazed by the ability of a Disney Cast Member to turn the ordinary into extraordinary as they make our dreams come true.  When it comes to helping guests celebrate their lives in big ways and small, I’m even more in love with the company who has made its mark in our hearts by making our memories more magical by gracing our days with unexpected special touches than any we could have imagined.  So tell me…

How do you celebrate your family’s special occasions?

Thanks for stopping by…we’ll see you next time!

Disclosure: Thanks to Disney Social Media for inviting me to attend Disney Social Media Moms Celebration. As part of my paid registration, I received for myself and my family discounted hotel accommodations, park tickets, attendance at special events, and branded merchandise. I was not asked to post about this event at any time. My opinions are entirely my own.
