Do you have a girlfriend who is pregnant right now?  If you are like me, that I am full of joy and love for my friends who are making babies and becoming mothers for the first time or more.  It happens less frequently once you arrive in your 40s, yet its always miraculous, never less than life changing, and truly a gift beyond all measure.  Our last baby is our only girl and at 37 with similar aged friends, I was one of the last to have a baby in our circle sisters and friends.  Her baby shower became the social event of the season in our festive and party friendly neighborhood.   And 65 women later…a baby shower was thrown that was beyond my wildest dreams as our unborn daughter was showered with pieces of love and hope from every corner of our world.  I was blessed to be so cared for at every turn and after having two awesome sons who were 6 to 8 years older, I felt that ocean of pink tulle, ribbon, and more somehow put me one step closer to finding my way as a mother again.

Almost 7 years later, I’m honored to join MyMommyManual.com and television station site, KMOV as a co-host for A Mom Is Born: The Virtual Baby Shower Celebrating a Woman’s Journey into Motherhood.   The shower will take place ONLINE Wednesday, August 25, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CST, this year’s shower will benefit the March of Dimes and the celebrant is expecting mom Virginia Kerr, the anchor on Missouri’s Channel 4’s early news show, Awake. Anyone with internet access can attend virtually, interacting in real time with Virginia and hosts via a live chat room during the online broadcast. The shower will be aired live on www.MomIsBorn.com.

The focus of the shower is celebrating and honoring the transition of a woman to motherhood and how her friends and loved ones can support her during this exciting time.  The two-hour broadcast will feature great parenting tips and products.  Viewers (guests) will also learn how to personalize a Holding Hands bracelet, a symbol of the connectedness between all mothers and the strength moms can source from each other. It is an especially touching gift for an expecting mom to wear during her labor and delivery, as a reminder of the support she has from her closest women friends.  A limited number of Holding Hands bracelets will be sold during the event for guests to buy for a special mom or mom-to-be. A portion of the proceeds will go to the March of Dimes.

Top tips for new moms will also be shared, which are being collected in the week prior to the broadcast in exchange for an entry in the Mom is Born giveaway raffle. Raffle prizes have been generously donated by the shower sponsors.

How can you support March of Dimes through this event?
