The holiday shopping season is upon us and I’m excited to get started finding the perfect gift for the ones I love. I’m one of those people who needs to actually be in the season before I can decide what I want to buy for everyone. I know, seems opposite of my organized ways, but I think for me this is really about tradition. I love to visit the stores when they are decorated from top to bottom with all the sparkles possible. And I like to know what my people really want to receive.
When it comes to gifts for the kids, I’ve always been drawn to classic toys, games, and books that I know will stand the test of time and be cherished in their hearts. And I’m a huge fan of having a collection of holiday items that help keep them busy and that they look forward to seeing me bring out year after year. This year, I’m delighted to discover Stone’s Education and Toys. Locally owned, this store is a treasure chest of incredible finds all year long and especially wonderful during the holidays. Full of outgoing staff truly interested in helping you find exactly what you need, Stone’s has special events all season long.
They have an incredible catalog full of great deals and because they are equal parts toys and education, its the perfect place to stop for teacher gifts too!
To make my shopping experience that much more efficient, I found the signage throughout highlighting catalog selections super helpful and also makes sure I maximize my savings thanks to their coupons and special deals.
And I’m not gonna lie, anywhere that offers me a gift wrap service at the holidays is already one step ahead of the save me time game!
Another super helpful seasonal display I adore is the stocking stuffers wall ~ seriously ~ it doesn’t get much easier than this!
Having first visited Stone’s years ago before they moved to their current location earlier this year, I was pleasantly surprised to see how expansive the space is that is dedicated to all kinds of play.
The Reading Nook begs for meandering all the titles in your own sweet time.
But its the Retro Corner that had my heart! Full of so many fabulous classic toys and games I was smitten with the entire section and had no trouble stocking up on a few I’d been looking to add to our family collection for quite some time.
And no word of a lie just 2 weeks ago I went to 5 stores looking for Silly Putty and Stone’s has it all year long!
Once I had my all things awesome and retro fix, I switched gears to see what the store might offer to add to our holiday traditions collection ~ think puzzles, games, and anything that will make the anticipation of the coming holiday that much more fun to celebrate as we go. My first find was perfection simply because it will not only take us plenty of time but is sure to bring us together for conversations that only happen when you spend time puzzling. Love this Rockefeller Center scene and with older children 1000 pieces is just our speed.
Because arts and crafts never lose their sparkle, this ornament making kit is the ultimate double dip because everything your child makes can also double as a gift.
Mad Libs are about as entertaining as it gets and this special Christmas edition will keep my tween more than amused when she needs them most.
While we don’t have anyone young enough to play with this, I’ll be honest I was SO tempted to buy it to just add to our Melissa and Doug kitchen collection that has been stored safely away for our grand children someday. I adore these toys and never hesitate when it comes to their value and creative play benefits. That they have a special holiday cookie baking collection is perfection as this is one of our favorite family activities all season long.
But my favorite holiday collection find in the store is this beautifully illustrated edition of “The Night Before Christmas.” Somehow I was lucky enough to inherit our family copy of this special story and when my children where very little, I purchased each of them a copy to have. That version with the specific illustrator now out of print, I’m so glad that I was able to pass down that tradition. This edition is just beautiful and begs for the spotlight in any holiday collection.
So as you can see, Stone’s had me at tradition and I am so glad I had the chance to discover all it has to offer. Fear not, you’ll find all kinds of items from the Frozen collection, GoldyBlox, Legos, and so very much more. If its hot and its new, they likely have that too. While I’m blessed to be able to visit Stone’s anytime since I live close by, the great news for you is you can shop online at Stone’s too! Not only does Stone’s offer a wonderful online store, you can also create and shop from Wishlists too. A fabulous feature for relatives and close friends, holiday shopping just got about as easy as it gets! Tell me…
