When it comes Disney Apps and kids, we have found that for our family, you simply can’t go wrong. With so many choices covering all of our favorite characters and interests, Disney Apps are a common ground for electronic fun on the go. Our summer is full of outdoor activities and plenty of sports so we spend a lot of time on the go. That means having a new Disney App on my side can do wonders for keeping my people happy while we tackle what we need to get done. I also like to have a surprise list of things to when bad weather has us working our Plan B. Check out my top 4 pics for Disney Apps that are sure to be a hit with everyone this summer.

Club Penguin

One of our favorite virtual worlds, just in time for summer, Club Penquin is now available on the IPad. I love the freedom the IPad offers, making it easy to play games together almost anywhere we are. Full of favorite games players already know and love, kids can earn all kinds of coins and items for their penguins. So work with me here…can you say reward system? And if you connect to Wi-Fi when you play, My Penguin will sync virtual world in real-time, so everything you earn in the app will transfer. My Penguin features four of the most popular games from ClubPenguin.com including Pufflescape, Puffle Rescue, Puffle Roundup and Ice Fishing. And just for mobile, the brand new game Sushi Drop gives players the chance to win coins, bonus items and treasure. I must admit my fashionista will likley find My Penguin ‘Penguin Style’ catalog. her favorite feature because she can shop for the latest Penquin fashions and stale. My Penguin is now available in English for free for iPad at the iTunes App Store.

Story

Story is a memory making dream and tailor made for the photo journalist in your family. A digital storytelling app for iPhone and iPod touch that helps users turns photography and video into personal narratives, I love how easy it can be.  That it is available for IPod touch completely revolutionizes what your younger kids can do with all those video and pictures they take every day. What my organized heart loves is that this Disney App has the ability to organize the photo and video library based on time and location. Then it enables you to personalize, save and share. For adults using the Story App, stories can be shared via e-mail or Facebook and are visible in any browser to invited friends and family on Story.us. And you had to know that as a video blogger, I find it very cool that Stories can be embedded right here on our site and blog. Finally, I love that Story has my back by saving my stories in the app and then backing them up with iCloud for future viewing and editing. A word of caution, as in all online sharing, make sure that whatever you publish you are comfortable seeing shared. The Story App is available for free from the App Store on iPhone and iPod Touch.

Monsters Inc. Run

Its always fun to connect the dots with other forms of media but even better when its an event that is an “IRL” experience.  Monsters Inc. Run is a great game to get your kids excited for the debut of Monsters University on June 21st.  Full of imagination, players take on the identify of a favorite Monsters Inc. character set.  Connecting the dots to the original screen play, you can navigate three frightening worlds and  master 48 hair-raising levels.  From the rooftops of Monstropolis to the Ice Caves of the Himalayas, there is an scary (not too scary) adventure at every turn making it a fun action game.  Boo has had our hearts since the very first time we saw Monsters Inc. and I love that the App aims to save Boo and work as a team to make it happen.  Available at the ITunes App Store.

Temple Run Oz

If your kids are anything like mine, Temple Run is a much loved game and the release of Temple Run Oz earlier this year is awesome for the older kids in my crew. For children who are old enough to see PG movies, Oz the Great and Powerful is a wonderful adventure giving an entirely new twist to the much beloved classic The Wizard of Oz. Temple Run: Oz akes this enchanted world of Oz come alive and also uses a platform that takes graphics and action more movie like than ever. There are 100 unique objectives in each region and gamers never have a dull moment as they explore Whimsie Woods and the Dark Forest, take a ride in the iconic and bonus hot-air balloon to soar through clouds and collect coins. Not only for flying monkeys, there are all-new obstacles that include snap dragons, flying baboons and collapsing bridges. Clearly players aren’t in Kansas anymore. And even better, Temple Run: Oz is available for Android on Google Play at http://bit.ly/15tVpYH and for iOS on the App Store at http://bit.ly/WgSWAk.

So there you go!  While we limit technology use we love to have a handful of fresh and fun Apps the entire family can enjoy for different reasons.  These four Disney Apps will no doubt do exactly that when its time to shift gears.  Tell me…

What are your family favorite Disney Apps for the summer?

Thanks so much for stopping by ~ we’ll see you next time!
